Meet the difference:

Philippe Pasquet is not like you and me. He chose, very early, to explore his own paths and was brave enough to invent a unique one. We are lucky. In June (2nd to 15th) at ON-ART Gallery, he offers us the opportunity to walk side by side, in his virtual world. World of air or world of water, anyway we will all enjoy the fluidity, the colorfulness and we will probably all ask questions.
As very often, the answers can be superficial – he does refuse our real world of violence, distortions and evictions. Follow him and fly or dive to get to the roots of his own curiosity. Did you notice the single eye ? Did you think of discovering rather than criticizing ? Did you notice those harmonious ballets as if they could still move within the immobility of an instant ? Philippe Pasquet has rediscovered himself several times, well before he left France - 22 years ago, to come and settle in Thailand. We find him, very early, in all kind of activities, all aiming at expressionism.
Here, he is a photographer learning how to master the technicalities of film development, exhibiting three times at the Arles annual event organized by L. Clergue at the end of the seventies. There, he is organizing musical events in a Cultural Center in Saint Nazaire in the eighties.
Coming to Thailand he turns to black and white paintings and starts writing. After all he was already writing poetry when he was 14 years old. Not really satisfying,… those few years across the centuries.
In 2003, Philippe starts to focus on his own painting technique and themes. A mix of matters: ink, acrylic and water. A mix of virtuality and imaginative creation, coming to his mind and hand, ex nihilo, to lend us an eye – if not a hand – into his world.
54 of his paintings covering 2005 to 2007 creations, will be at ON-ART Gallery_in June (2nd to 15th ). Don’t miss it, don’t miss an encounter of another type.
